Bandar Seri Begawan – The Persatuan Astronomi Brunei Darussalam (PABD) has officially opened its membership registration for the year 2026, inviting astronomy enthusiasts across the nation to join a growing network of stargazers and celestial explorers. This annual enrollment marks a key opportunity for individuals to engage with Brunei’s vibrant astronomical community and participate in a series of educational and observational activities.
Registration is now available online via https://bruneiastronomy.org/web/membership, with the deadline for Batch 1 set for 15 November 2025. Upon submission, applicants will receive an official acknowledgement from the PABD Executive, followed by a structured orientation programme.
The first session, scheduled between November and December 2025, introduces members to the society’s mission, benefits, and the fundamentals of amateur astronomy. A second session offers hands-on experience with telescopes and night sky observation, providing practical skills in celestial navigation and planetary motion.
Membership confirmation requires attendance at both orientation sessions, after which applicants will receive details on fee payment and documentation. The final deadline for confirmation is 31 December 2025. Successful applicants will be officially announced in January 2026, marking the beginning of their journey with PABD.
Meanwhile, current and active members who wish to continue their membership for 2026 are kindly advised to check their email—including the spam or junk folder—for renewal details. If no information has been received, members are encouraged to contact the Secretary-General directly for assistance.
Membership is open exclusively to residents of Negara Brunei Darussalam, with two categories available: Ahli Biasa (Ordinary) at B$15.00 for both registration and annual fees, and Ahli Pelajar (Student, under 18) at B$5.00 respectively.
While the recommended age for Student member participation is 11 years and above due to the hands-on nature of PABD’s activities, younger children are welcome to join under parental supervision.
