Bandar Seri Begawan – The Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) successfully conducted a Solar Observation and Astronomy Outreach programme during the SM PDSM Mentiri Family Day today, August 02, 2026. The event brought hands‑on astronomy experiences to students, parents, and teachers through safe solar viewing and telescope demonstrations.
A dedicated team of seven PABD volunteer members, headed by Norlida binti Haji Mohd. Yusof, led the outreach activities throughout the programme. The team set up multiple telescopes, guided participants through key solar features, and introduced basic astronomy concepts to visitors of all ages. Families had the opportunity to observe the Sun’s surface, explore safe solar‑viewing equipment, and discover how astronomy connects scientific understanding with daily life.
PABD extends its sincere appreciation to Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) SM PDSM Mentiri for the invitation, collaboration, and the opportunity to inspire young learners and the wider community. The society remains committed to supporting educational institutions in promoting science literacy and fostering interest in astronomy across Brunei Darussalam.
