Bandar Seri Begawan – The Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) successfully conducted a Solar Observation and Astronomy Outreach programme during the SM PDSM Mentiri Family Day today, August 02, 2026. The event brought hands‑on astronomy experiences to students, parents, and teachers through safe solar viewing and telescope demonstrations.

A dedicated team of 7 PABD volunteer members led the outreach, setting up multiple telescopes, guiding participants through solar features, and introducing basic astronomy concepts. Families had the opportunity to observe the Sun’s surface, explore safe solar observation equipment, and learn how astronomy connects science with daily life.

PABD extends its sincere appreciation to Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) SM PDSM Mentiri for the invitation, collaboration, and the opportunity to inspire young learners and the wider community. The society remains committed to supporting educational institutions in promoting science literacy and fostering interest in astronomy across Brunei Darussalam.
