Bandar Seri Begawan – Not to be missed cosmic event this year, the brilliant Venus will glide past the sparkling Pleiades star cluster on April 02 until April 05, 2020 at dusk from Brunei Darussalam.
The Pleiades (M45) is
the most famous of all open cluster and very rich with more than 1000 stars. At
least 7 prominent stars in the cluster are easily visible, hence this jewel is
nicknamed as the “Seven Sisters”.
The moon, mighty Jupiter and bright stars cluster of Pleiades appear in celestial conjunction on the night of Dec 25, 2012. Stargazers will be able to see the moon is closed to the planet and stars cluster through the night sky. A great opportunity to all astrophotographers in Brunei to capture the spectacular event.
Due to the recent outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) has postponed most of our public engagement activities such as stargazing, new moon observation etc. until further notice and focus on implementing Astronomy at Home or in a small group activity. This is in view of prevention and to control the spread of the infection in Brunei Darussalam.
