Bandar Seri Begawan\u00a0 (2015 April\u00a004) –\u00a0Sky gazers and eclipse watchers gathered\u00a0in the\u00a0evening\u00a0at Dermaga Diraja in the capital to observe the full eclipse of the Moon. The event was co-organised by Sultan Sharif\u00b4Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), Survey Deparment and the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam.<\/p>\n

Despite the weather was partly cloudy, most of the eclipse stages were\u00a0observable from moon rise,\u00a0at about 7 pm, till the end of\u00a0partial phase, at 9.45 pm.<\/p>\n

Totality\u2019s duration was less than\u00a05 minutes\u00a0that made\u00a0this\u00a0phenomenon as the briefest sight of totality in the 21st century.<\/p>\n

During the Lunar Eclipse,\u00a0a Sunat Gerhana Prayer was performed at the nearby surau as a recommended prayer (salatul-kusuf) in congregation. Public talks on the Scientific and Islamic perspectives of the eclipse and its significant\u00a0were also delivered by Haji Julaihi bin Hj Lamat of Survey Department\u00a0and Dr Sayyed Abdul Hamid al-Mahdaly from\u00a0UNISSA.<\/p>\n

Present during the event were the\u00a0 co-chairperson, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal\u00a0 (UNISSA’s Rektor) and Hj Julaihi bin Haji Lamat (Survey\u00a0 Department).<\/p>\n
