You can bring your telescope and enjoy camping under the stars featuring the most wonderful night in Ramadan to catch the Lyrids Meteor Shower. Come for an extra-special 2021 Earth Day and get a chance to be part of a worldwide movement about protecting the environment.

Important notice: Please participate safely and responsibly in adherence to MOHโs health guidelines, such as social distancing, handwashing, and face coverings. Upon arrival, please scan and check-in via BruHealth apps on your mobile phone.
Good news! All registered participants (including PABD members/organizers) can enter our Lyrids Meteor Shower Camp online quiz and to win our grand prize, a pair of astronomy binoculars.
Parking areas are available at 2 different access routes:
(a) Jalan Bintudoh, look for a big signage Bintudoh Greenspring Resort [Bigger Space]
(b) Simpang 113 [Limited Space for VIPs & Guest of Honour]

Activities Sign Up! A form will be provided at the registration desk for you to join the activities (please check the event schedule below for latest updates). Our activities are informal, and will require your active engagement. During stargazing sessions, our PABD amateur astronomers will guide you for best viewing of the night sky. Few telescopes will be setup at the camp area (near Gazibo) for you to closely look up and enjoy the view of our universe. Just find us if you’re lost among the stars ๐

Coffee!? Tampd Koffee Co will be at our event to keep you awake with their specialty coffee offered at special price.

Catch the Falling Stars
In 2021, the Lyrids will peak on the night between 22โ23 Apr. The Lyrid Meteor Shower is usually active between April 16 and 25 every year. It tends to peak around April 22 or 23 with up to 18 meteors per hour.
Named after constellation Lyra (where the meteors radiated from), the Lyrids are one of the oldest recorded meteor showersโaccording to some historical Chinese texts, the shower was seen over 2,500 years ago. The fireballs in the meteor shower are created by debris from comet C/1861 G1 (Thatcher), which takes about 415 years to orbit around the Sun.
Join this special event for the dazzling light show in the night sky with amateur astronomers, the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam.

What to see at the stargazing session? A wide variety of wonderful things to observe throughout the night (see star chart above) – probably the best naked eye wonder is the Milky Way, and of course the amazing Lyrids. But there are more! – Learn the patterns of stars (known as constellations); Observe through the telescopes at visible planets, craters of the Moon, and beautiful star clusters & nebula. Let’s hope for a clear sky in one of the driest months of April in Brunei.
