Note:Planetary orbits are elliptical, not perfectly circular (especially objects beyond Neptune), and the sizes and distances shown are average values. Planets are not perfectly spherical; they are oblate spheroids (wider at the equator). The diameters listed are average values. Because space is overwhelmingly empty, displaying both planet size and orbit distance on the same screen at scale is visually impossible without planets shrinking to microscopic dots. The calculator determines a universal scale factor k based on your input, k = ( Real Sun Diameter / Model Sun Diameter ). It then divides the real-world data by k to find the model dimensions, converting kilometers to centimeters for size and meters for distance.
