Brunei’s No Shadow Day Moment on April 01, 2020

Bandar Seri Begawan – Vertical objects became shadow less at around mid-day today, Wednesday, April 1, 2020, in Brunei Darussalam. Cosmic observers tried out simple experiments by just placing sticks or cylindrical objects vertically on the ground under the sun as well as by observing surrounding environment for changes in the shadow.

Potential Bright Naked Eye Comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) in Mid-May 2020?!

Bandar Seri Begawan – Comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) is peaking brightness as it close approaching to Earth on Sat May 23, 2020, about 0.25 AU from the Sun. It is readily visible from the Northern hemisphere

Currently in the constellation of Ursa Major, the comet is easily spotted (~magnitude 9.5) and appeared as a fuzzy ball in a small telescope despite of bright moonlit sky last night (Mac 12, 2020). No clear sign of a comet tail at the moment.

Balai Cerap Al-Biruni Sabah Pemangkin Kemajuan Ilmu Falak Negeri Di Bawah Bayu

Balai Cerap Al-Biruni Negeri Sabah terletak di Tanjung Dumpil, Putatan kira-kira 15 Km dari Kota Kinabalu. Koordinat 05Β° 54′ 18.51” Utara, 116Β° 02′ 09.09″ Timur

Kota Kinabalu – Seramai 3 orang ahli Persatuan Astronomi Negara Brunei Darussalam (PABD) mengadakan program lawatan ke balai cerap Al-Biruni Negeri Sabah pada petang Sabtu, 25 Januari 2020.

Kedatangan peserta program lawatan tersebut telah disambut oleh Yang Berbahagia Sohibus Samahah Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar, Mufti Negeri Sabah. Program lawatan telah memuatkan sesi taklimat ringkas mengenai pengenalan dan kemajuan balai cerap Al-Biruni yang terletak di Tanjung Dumpil, Putatan oleh Jabatan Mufti Negeri Sabah

PABD Eclipse Expedition Team Visits Brunei Consulate in Kuching Sarawak

Kuching – 11 members of the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) and family members received an invitation by the Consulate General of Brunei Darussalam in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia on Monday afternoon, 23 December 2019.

The annular solar eclipse expedition team in Kuching, Sarawak, was welcomed by Puan Yang Terutama Consul General Pengiran Hajah Krtini binti Pengiran Haji Tahir.

The team was briefed by the Consul General on the public engagement with the representative of the Brunei Government in a foreign town of Kuching.

PABD Gives Talk on Upcoming Solar Eclipse and Dark Cosmology

Bandar Seri Begawan β€” An astronomy talk organised by the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) has provided some insight about the December 26, 2019, solar eclipse.

Two special astronomy topics were presented during the space talk, which was held on Saturday night, December 14, 2019, at the Box, Telanai Avenue.

Hazarry bin Haji Ali Ahmad, General Secretary of PABD, explained to the public members on eclipses with his presentation β€œChasing the moon shadow of 2019 Annular Eclipse”.

Md Qawiem bin Hj Md Jamil, Executive Committee of PABD, presented the origin story of dark matter and dark energy, and their evolution.
